The Center’s pre-school program was designed specifically for the needs of 2-4 year olds. These highly mobile, energetic and inquisitive children keep our teachers on their toes.
Examples of lessons around a “farm theme” for pre-school children, organized in 6-month increments may include the following activities:
Group time - Talk about various themes (senses, farm, tools) Library/language - Read books, create and tell stories Dramatic play - Play dress up, pretend bakery and veterinarian’s office Music/transition - Sing “Old Mac Donald” and dance Math/manipulative - Numbers recognition, sequencing, comparing Cooking/Nutrition - Talk about and prepare nutritious foods (fruit salad) Outdoor/Physical - Act out farm animals sounds and behaviors Art - Painting and collage with grains and seeds Sensory/Science - Make and play with silly putty on sensory table Mental health - Help child choose words for problem solving Safety - Discuss fire safety (stop, drop and roll)
The Center has also partnered with the Council for the Spanish Speaking/Guadalupe Head Start in order to better serve the children and families on Milwaukee's south side. View our flyer for more information.
